Well, here we are again. Another Sunday... the forecast of snow for the weekend seems to have passed, so fingers crossed we should be in for a game. Man I could do with one, as I haven't played now since we beat Redbridge Rovers on January 29th! Way, way too long without a game for my liking.
We haven't played todays opponents yet, Cuxton Autos are currently bottom of the table, but that doesn't mean a lot where we are concerned as we seem to be able to continually play badly against the lower sides, you only have to look back to the games against Inter Gills and the recent cup game against Redbridge for evidence of that.
Talking of Redbridge, we still don't know who or when we will be playing the semi final of the cup and I know we shouldn't count our chickens, but I really think if we don't go all the way now then we want shooting! Maybe this will be the bit of luck we needed this season, I mean only playing two games to get to a cup final is a result in itself, isn't it?
I have recently started looking at doing some Coaching and want when finances allow to do the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching... I have spoken to Tony and said I would like to try a few things out with the guys. Should be interesting to see what sort of response I get from the players!
Well, another Sunday approaches and after an initial panic over whether we would have enough players, things seem to have swung around - now we have too many.
If everyone turns up we have potentially 18 players available. I know there is the saying 'strength in depth', but that is ridiculous! Mind you a couple of the guys aren't too bothered about getting a game, and probably only said yes to this week thinking we would be short. Let's hope no-one goes away disappointed!
Still waiting to find out who we have got in the Junior Charity semi-final, hope we aren't counting our chickens, but we do look like the strongest team left in it. Haven't had an answer yet from the league as to when the semi will be, as the handbook does mention Good Friday, which may be a problem for some if we don't let them know early enough!.
Fingers crossed for the weather and maybe, just maybe we might get a game in...
Well, Sunday is nearly upon us again and hopefully this time we won't have a cancellation to leave us twiddling our thumbs. There are only so many jobs a man can do round the house when he knows he should be out there kicking ass.
Although Cuxton Autos are bottom of the table, it could still be an interesting one, as we go into this game without our leading scorer, Shaun Speller. There haven't been too many goals within the team this season, so it could be a tight one. Maybe Richie Woolston will get his wish and a return to the forward line maybe beckons. Got give him his chance, besides we haven't really got too many other options up front.
Strange how we have had an over-abundance of midfield players this season, but little or no cover either in defence or up front, something to be sorted for next season I think.
Let's see what Sunday brings... hopefully 3 points, another win would see us safely into fifth place, where we will probably finish the season.
